About A Touch of Class Cotons

A Touch of Class Cotons is located in Canby, Oregon (halfway between Portland and Salem).

We are not a kennel, but a family consisting of myself (Kathy), my husband (Gary), and our 27 year old daughter (Kimberly).

We purchased our first Coton de Tulear, Taffy, twelve years ago. She so entwined herself into our hearts and lives that we now also have Bono, Chili, Calamity Jane, Mika, Roxy, Bella and Mattie. Our wonderful little Taffy has since crossed over the rainbow bridge but lives on forever in our hearts. Not a day goes by that we are not laughing over some antic that they are pulling. They have so enriched our lives that we cannot imagine life without them

We are current members of the USACTC, and are a Code of Ethics Breeder. We are very careful to follow the American Kennel Club standards and, as a result, only produce a few carefully planned litters a year.

At A Touch of Class Cotons our goal is to produce healthy, happy and well-socialized puppies that are equally happy as your constant companion, in a show ring, or doing pet-assisted therapy.

Our puppies are whelped in our bedroom and spend their first four weeks there, being handled daily by myself, my husband and our daughter. At the end of their fourth week of age they are then moved into our family room so that they can be exposed to the sights and sounds of everyday life. They are at that point introduced to our grandchildren who in turn spend all of their spare time playing and socializing these captivating little souls. When the pups are 7 weeks old, each is individually tested by us for the purpose of determining their dominant personality traits. This “personality evaluation” helps us to place each puppy in the right environment for their individual personality traits.

Because Coton de Tulear are bred to be companion animals, they thrive on human contact and can become despondent if they are left alone in a kennel every day. Therefore, we look for homes where our puppies are ensured loving, constant human interaction. We totally disapprove of having them placed in a kennel situation.

Our concern does not end with a puppy’s placement. Coton de Tulear puppies want to please and will try to adapt to the needs of their new owners. However, in case there are some bumps in the road of ownership, we are here to help with any training, grooming, nutrition or any other issues that tend to arise. We do not place our puppies in their new homes and then disappear. We encourage our puppy owners to call us with any questions or concerns that they may have.

We will do our best to ensure that each puppy becomes a happy member of its new family. Our puppies have received an identification micro-chip by our board certified veterinarian and arrive at their new home with their first set(s) of puppy vaccinations. Puppies are litter box trained by 8 weeks of age. Litter box training helps the puppies in making an easier transition in house training.

Our contract includes a one year health guarantee against genetic defects. Should this occur the effected puppy will be replaced or monies refunded upon the return of the affected puppy. Our puppies are a lifetime commitment to us.
